After a week of dealing with pure carnage, look for the top players in the world to let all hell break loose in Cromwell at the Traveler's Championship. In the playing field, 8 out of the top 15 golfer's in the world will be competing at TPC River Highlands for the Traveler's Championship trophy and jacket.
Last year, the championship was capped off by an unforgettable walk-off hole out from the bunker by Jordan Spieth. Spieth will be looking to bounce back and defend his title after being cut from the U.S. Open last week.
The Traveler's Championship was named 2017 Tournament of the Year and was awarded the most fan friendly event.
One of the highlights from the tournament is the signature umbrella at the 15 1/2 hole. The hole resembles the logo of Traveler's Insurance, where pro's and caddies have a closest to pin competition awarding the winner with $10,000 to donate to a charity of choice.
As for the betting favorites heading into the week, obviously Brooks Koepka winning the U.S. Open last week will put him as one of the favorites. Alongside Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, and Rory McIlroy, whose odds are all set at +1200, these golfers will have their way at Cromwell after dealing with the very difficult conditions at Shinnecock.
Since Kenny Perry set the course record of 22-under in 2009, the average winning score has been 15-under at the Traveler's Championship. Look for the top dogs on tour to light up the leaderboard with red numbers come Thursday after last weeks U.S. Open.
