After the first round, Andrew Landry and J.J. Spaun sit at the top of the leaderboard tied with a score of 7-under. Billy Horschel and Andrew Putnam are T3 with a score of 6-under, while Abraham Ancer and Beau Hossler are T5 at 5-under.
For J.J. Spaun, he has had a very, very tough season. But kudos for him for coming out in the opening round on one of the toughest courses on tour tied for the lead. In his last 13 starts, Spaun has missed the cut 8 times as well as withdrawing from the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
Landry has been struggling as of late as well, especially after missing the cut last week at the Traveler's Championship. However, he noted that his second round performance gave him some confidence and some learning tools to build off that he seems to have brought into the start of the Quicken Loans National.

Rickie Fowler & Tiger Woods sit T48 together as the two shot even par 70. The betting favorites didn't have their best game today as both had up and down rounds.
The big storyline, other than the Tiger's first start since the U.S. Open, was what putter Tiger was going to use. He turned his back on his ride or die Scotty Cameron to test the water with a TaylorMade Ardmore 3. The biggest difference being a mallet blade instead of anser style blade.
Defending champion Kyle Stanley, is sitting T68 at 1-over. He accumulated 4 birdies and 5 bogeys throughout his title defense after the opening round.
