For the Quicken Loans National this week at TPC Potomac, Tiger is considering switching to a mallet putter. Woods has typically used the Scotty Cameron Newport 2, which he has won 13 of his 14 majors with. Tiger was experimenting with a TaylorMade Ardmore 3 slant-neck model during his practice rounds earlier this week.

On the reason for considering the switch, Woods expressed, “I kept saying that I wanted something with more swing than mine. I like feeling like that toe is moving and swinging, but this one has a fraction more swing than mine does.”
I can understand Tiger trying to make an adjustment with the flat stick. He hasn't been as "Tiger-esque" as we are used to seeing as Woods is ranked 89th on Tour in strokes gained: putting.
The anser style blade has typically been Woods' go-to, and I guess we'll find out today which putter he is going to try out. “It’s at my discretion,” he said. “If I find something that helps me play better, then so be it. If it doesn’t, then it’s not going in the bag.”
The Scotty Cameron has been Woods' prized possession, & how could it not be if it brought home 13 majors. Back in 2016, Woods gave the world an idea of just how valuable he considers his putter to be.
“Charlie (Woods’ son) knows there are two putters that he can’t touch,” Woods said. “There’s that black one I won with the trillium insert, I won the Masters in ’97, and this one. They sit next to each other. Touch any other putter, do anything you want with any other putter. These putters are off limits.”
Absolutely great. Something to keep in mind, there has only been one occurrence where Tiger hasn't used the anser blade.
Will Tiger stick to ole faithful, or will he go into today's round with a new perspective with the mallet putter?? Whatever putter he decides to use, I just hope it can help propel his short game back.
For those who don't remember, Tiger used a Nike Method 003 mallet during the '11 Masters. Literally the only time I can recall him using something other than an Anser-style blade. pic.twitter.com/0I5VmBJtNB— Jonathan Wall (@jonathanrwall) June 26, 2018
